Good news for all households in the Bassetlaw area.

We have grants available for Free First Time Central Heating in your area. You do not need to be in receipt of benefits to access these grants. If your home has no central heating at the moment or at any time in the past you could be eligible to have a full central heating system installed FREE of cahrge including a gas connection if applicable.

A brief outline of the rules is below :

Low income households and vulnerability to cold

Below are the criteria set by Bassetlaw District Council for ECO flexible eligibility low income and vulnerability to cold qualification. For a resident of Bassetlaw to be deemed eligibility low income and vulnerability to cold qualification. For a resident of Bassetlaw to be deemed eligible they must meet only one of the four criteria listed below:

The resident has one of the following illnesses and has a household income of less than £35,000 p/a:

  • Chronic Respiratory Condition e.g. COPD / Asthma / Pneumonia
  • Diabetes
  • Cardiovascular condition e.g. Coronary Heart Disease, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, poor circulation
  • Cancer
  • Mental Health Condition
  • Musculoskeletal conditions (inc. Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis etc).
  • Long Term Illness made worse in Winter (i.e. Arthritis)
  • Blood conditions e.g. Sickle Cell Anaemia
  • Disability or Restricted Mobility 
  • Neurological Condition (including dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, etc)
    • The resident is aged over 60 and has a household income of less than £30,000 p/a
    • The resident is pregnant and has a household income of less than £45,000 p/a
    • The resident has young children under the age of 5 years and has a household income of less than £45,000 p/a 

If you are in receipt of benefits you will also qualify for a grant.

GRANTS FOR CENTRAL HEATING IN BASSETLAW

In January 2020 grant funding for free central heating was made available under the Governments Energy Company Obligation scheme. First time central heating grants for bassetlaw are available now from the government as part of their energy efficiency scheme throughout the UK. This is available for both Homeowners and Private Tenants.

You do not need to be in receipt of benefits to qualify for free Central Heating in bassetlaw.

The government’s Energy Company Obligation scheme helps to reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty

A new part of the scheme called ‘flexible eligibility’ enables local authorities to set targets for energy suppliers to help fund the installation of energy-efficiency measures in qualifying households.

You can apply for support if you live in a property that is expensive to heat, or if you or somebody living with you are vulnerable to cold.

Qualifying criteria include:

  • Someone in your home receives a qualifying benefit
  • Household is on a low income.
  • Your property has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E,F or G, or provides a qualifying score through our assessment
  • You or somebody living in your property have a health condition that can be exacerbated by the cold
  • You or somebody living in your property are pregnant or have a child aged under 5 or somebody living in your property are aged over 65

This is all part of the Governments Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme.

Free Central heating is cheaper to run saving you money on your heating bills. It is far more controllable, all of our central heating systems are installed with a full set of controls. This means that you can control the temperature in each room independently. You can set the heating to come on and switch off as you need so that you are not heating your home when you are not there. If you have a combination boiler you are not heating a tank full of water that you may not use.
